TartAMI Residence Osaka
(Fujitatami Guesthouse)
TartAMI Residence is an artist residency in Osaka, Japan.
We offer a unique opportunity to explore tatami as an artistic medium through TartAMI®︎, a creative practice inspired by traditional Japanese tatami craftsmanship.
Accommodation
Stay in a traditional Japanese house built approximately 60 years ago in the suburb of Osaka.
We offer private rooms and shared dormitory rooms for resident artists.
An accommodation is run by a family of tatami (natural rush flooring often seen in temples and tea room) makers.
We are located in Izumi, south of Osaka, a convenient distance from Kansai International Airport (KIX). Limousine buses connect the airport with Izumi-Chuo Station, the nearest major station, with a fare of approximately ¥1,350. Although we are a little removed from central Osaka, Namba is easily accessible by train. The area also offers access to hiking routes in Nara and Wakayama.
TartAMI Residence is ideal for artists looking for a peaceful, welcoming environment where they can focus on their practice and experience everyday life in Japan.
